Christmas Made Me Fat!

I spent a lot of time on my ass over the Christmas break. I was saddled with a few work commitments, but that didn't stop me from catching up on the bulk of what I missed throughout 2008.One of the new year resolutions here at YCEtVB is to keep a list of everything I'm watching and -for the record- I'm doing this for myself, not any of you. Bottom line: I want to see how many movies I actually sit through in a year. On another tangent, there's still a few more films I need to watch before I can write my Best of 2008 list...so stay tuned for that.

Excluding what's posted here, this is the "other stuff" I watched over the past few weeks (the number next to each will be my shorthand rating on a scale of 1-10):
Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir (8.5)
The David Lynch doc; Lynch (One) (7)
Sam Fuller's Steel Helmet (8.5)
Fuller's Fixed Bayonets (7.5)
David Gordon Green's All the Real Girls (8)
Courtney Hunt's Frozen River (6.5)
Guy Ritchie's Rocknrolla (8)
Wim Wender's Buena Vista Social Club (8)
Philippe Grandrieux's Sombre (8.5)
Kelly Reichardt's Wendy & Lucy (7)
Leos Carax's Mauvais Sang (7.5)
The Tale of Despereaux (5.5)
Coen's Burn After Reading (8 - third screening in the past 3 months)
Enki Bilal's Immortal (Ad Vitam) (7.5)
Channel 4's The Dark Side of Porn: The Real Animal Farm (8.5)
Gus Van Sant's Milk (8)
David Frankel's Marley & Me (6)
Timur Bekmambetov's Night Watch (7)
Nicolas Winding Refn's Pusher Trilogy (8)
Jérôme Boivin's Baxter (7.5)
Randall Miller's Bottle Shock (7.5)
Steven Soderbergh's Che (Part 1) (8)
Clark Gregg's Choke (7.5)
PT Anderson's Cigarettes and Coffee (6.5)
PT Anderson's Dirk DIggler Story (4)
Matteo Garrone's Gomorra (6.5)
Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino (8)
Mike Leigh's Happy Go Lucky (8)
Nic Ray's Johnny Guitar (9)
Nel LaBute's Lakeview Terrace (7)
James Marsh's Man on Wire (8.5)
Gavin O'Connor's Pride and Glory (7)
Religulous (6 - it would have been much lower had it not been for the content)
Sam Mendes Revolutionary Road (8)
Bela Tarr's The Man From London (7)
Thom McCarthy's The Visitor (8 - the last shot alone cranks this up a point)
Jonathan Levine's The Wackness (7.5)
Jake Kasdan's Zero Effect (6.5 - indulgent camera moves killed this one)

I just realized after looking at this list that I spend way too much time watching movies. I need to get back to work.
