Beyoncé Says She “Could Not Stop Crying” at Tyler Perry’s Historic Studio Opening - Vanity Fair Posted: 07 Oct 2019 08:07 AM PDT ![]() On Saturday night, Tyler Perry hosted the most glamorous event in Atlanta, Georgia, the long-awaited grand opening gala for his 330-acre namesake studio. The event was attended by a slew of stars, including groundbreaking black artists who were given a special tribute by Perry that night, including Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Sidney Poitier, Whoopi Goldberg, Cicely Tyson, and Harry Belafonte, according to Variety. Perry also unveiled the names of each soundstage, named after legends like the late Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Della Reese, John Singleton, and Diahann Carroll, who died Friday, one day before the ceremony. The soundstages were christened by a representative breaking a bottle of Champagne against the wall, per the [Hollywood Reporter.] The event was attended by a roster of A-listers, including Winfrey, Washington, and Berry, as well as Viola Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ava DuVernay, and political heavyweights like Rep. John Lewis, Stacey Abrams, and Bill and Hillary Clinton. Beyoncé and Jay-Z were also in attendance, with the Lemonade singer sharing a heartfelt message to Perry on Instagram on Sunday, noting that she "could not stop crying" at the celebratory event. "Happy Sunday. Congratulations to Tyler Perry on the opening of his studios," she wrote. "I could feel our ancestors' presence. Surrounded by my heroes, I watched Denzel, Queen Oprah, Spike, Whoopi, Sir Poitier, Will, Halle, Dame Cicely and our angels John Singleton and Diahann Carroll honored. The Armand de Brignac crashed against each soundstage as fireworks lit up the sky. Generations of blood, sweat and tears, success, excellence and brilliance. It makes me so proud, so full, I could not stop crying. Thank you my Virgo brother for so much love and passion put into every detail. My prayer today is that you will take it all in. You inspire me to dream even bigger." In a moving speech at the BET Awards in June, Perry revealed the historic significance of his studio's lot, noting it was once a Confederate Army base. The star's true to life film takes a look at the former Destiny's Child band member's creative process for making her latest album The Lion King: The Gift. The Single Ladies hitmaker, 38, who keeps her family life with rapper husband Jay-Z , 49, extremely private, has decided to include footage of her rarely-seen twin children in the film. ![]() In sweet clips, that are yet to be shown in the UK, Rumi and Sir are seen interacting with their mother and father as they take a trip to Africa. Blue Ivy, who is often spotted alongside her hip-hop royalty parents on the red carpet, is seen taking her role as big sister seriously as she plays with her younger siblings. In one snippet the family of five can be seen sat reading together, with Beyoncé and Jay-Z snuggled up to their brood and surrounded by children's books. ![]() ![]() In anther clip, the Lemonade album creator is seen cooing over the two tiny tots as she puts them to bed as they fly on a private jet. Later on, the glamorous Grammy winner is shown sitting in the back of a car with her twins as she films a selfie video. In the documentary, that was shown in the US on ABC, the singer told cameras: "When you're a mother, there's a love that you experience with your kids that's deeper than anything you can imagine. The love is beyond Earth and beyond time and space, and it's a connection that will be constant." ![]() ![]() Proving she is proud of being a part of the Disney family, she continued: "The Gift has been so much more than a celebration of the film The Lion King." She added: "To be able to work on a film that is so massive, so iconic, and to also represent African people and African Americans in a positive light is a blessing for me." ![]() The Billboard Music Award winner was paid a reported £25million to lend her voice to Nala in the Disney remake of The iconic movie, as well as recording the official soundtrack and an album. Jon Favreau's incredible remake of Disney's 1994 animated movie has smashed records. The Lion King brought in an estimated $433million (around £346m) worldwide in box office sales across the globe.
